Format for Layer Minting

Posted on 2025-09-26 Updated on 2025-09-29

Welcome to EdaFace Mint System.

You can mint your NFTs on the EdaFace NFT Marketplace (NMP). There are seven ways to mint on the EdaFace NFT Marketplace. You can read more about them here: SEVEN MINTING VARIETIES.

Specifically, the Layer-by-Layer Minting, which is one of the seven minting varieties, is unique for generative NFT collections (e.g., Bored Ape Yacht Club, Azuki) as well as in the crossbreeding of traits among NFTs.

EdaFace Academy refers to an NFT produced via Layer-by-Layer Minting as a Layer NFT.

To successfully create and mint a Layer NFT on the EdaFace NFT Marketplace, you must format your files correctly before uploading them for minting. Follow the pattern presented here to successfully format and mint your Layer NFT.

Layer Files

To create and mint Layer NFTs, you will need to upload Layer Files.
Layer Files are Image Files that you use to generate or crossbreed traits to produce Layer NFTs.

For example, Eddie has decided to produce different kinds of bird images as Layer NFTs.

To do so, he assembled the images of various body parts of different birds and then used the Layer-by-Layer Minting to randomly generate these images to form different kinds of birds.

The various Layer Files (images) that Eddie has assembled are:

• 1st Layer Files:
Eddie collected one image each of the heads of an eagle, a hen, an ostrich, and an owl.

• 2nd Layer Files:
He went further to collect one image each of the rest of the body parts of an eagle, a hen, an ostrich, and an owl.

Remember that each image is referred to as a Layer File.
Supported file formats are: png, jpeg, and jpg.

Preparing Layer Files for Upload

Layer Files are grouped and kept in a folder.

For example, Eddie kept his 1st Layer Files, which consist of the images of the heads of four different birds (eagle, hen, ostrich, and owl) in a folder that he has named "Head Folder."

Eddie did the same thing for the second Layer Files, which he has named Neck Folder.

Thus, Eddie has two folders as follows:

(1). Head Folder
This contains four images (that is, 4 Layer Files): an image for each of the heads of an eagle, a hen, an ostrich, and an owl. See Fig. 1.

Eddie named these 4 Layer Files as follows:
eagle head                               hen head
ostrich head                             owl head.

Fig.1. Head Folder

(2). Body Folder
This contains four images (that is, 4 Layer Files): an image for each of the bodies of an eagle, a hen, an ostrich, and an owl. See Fig. 2.

Eddie named these 4 Layer Files as follows:
eagle body                               hen body
ostrich body                             owl body

For emphasis, remember that each group of Layer Files, which are images, is kept in a folder. Therefore, the folder is an Image Folder.

Two Important Questions Before Uploading

While preparing your Layer Files for uploading and subsequent minting of Layer NFTs, there are two important questions you should consider:

(1). How Many Layer Files Should I Upload?

If Eddie wants to produce 10 different bird Layer NFTs, how many Layer Files and Audio Files will he upload for minting?

EdaFace NFT Marketplace provides a Layer Ruler that helps you to know approximately how many Layer Files are needed to produce a certain number of Layer NFTs.

The Layer Ruler is found on the Layer-by-Layer Minting page. Fig. 3 shows the Layer Ruler.

Fig. 3. EdaFace Layer Ruler.

For example, according to the Layer Ruler, if Eddie wants to mint 10 different bird Layer NFTs, he will need a minimum of 2 Image Folders, and each Image Folder must contain a minimum of 4 Layer Files.

Since he has 2 Image Folders, each containing 4 Layer Files, Eddie has met the minimum requirements to produce 10 different kinds of bird Layer NFTs from his Layer Files.

In other words, the Layer-by-Layer Minting format allows you to produce different varieties of Layer NFTs all at once.

The maximum number of different Layer NFT varieties you can produce at one time is 100 000.

To produce this maximum number, you will need to upload a minimum of 4 Image Folders, with each Image Folder containing 15 Layer Files.

(2). How Many NFT Copies Can I Produce?

You can mint multiple NFT copies of each Layer File you upload. The maximum number of NFT copies you can produce from each Layer File at a time is 100 000.

Therefore, if you choose to upload the maximum number of 100 000 Layer Files, you can produce 100 000 NFT copies from each of these files.

Meaning, a maximum total of 10 000 000 000 NFT copies (that is, 100 000 x 100 000) can be produced at one time.

What You Need to Upload

Here is a summary of what you will need to upload to produce your Layer NFTs.

(1). One Layer Mega Folder
To produce Layer NFTs, you will need to upload Layer Files, which are grouped into folders. That is, each folder contains images of various layers, also known as Layer Files.

Because they contain Layer Files, which are images, these folders are referred to as Image Folders. You will need at least two Image Folders to produce Layer NFTs.

In our example above, Eddie has two Image Folders, which he has named: Head Folder and Body Folder.

EdaFace Layer-by-Layer Minting allows all the Image Folders to be uploaded once.

This means all the Image Folders you want to upload must be in one mega folder, referred to as the Layer Mega Folder.

Therefore, Eddie's two folders will need to be enclosed in one mega folder, which Eddie named "Bird Layer Folder." See Fig. 4.

Fig.4. Bird Layer Folder

(2). One Audio Folder

Eddie wants each of his minted bird Layer NFTs to be able to talk and sing. To do this, Eddie will need to upload Audio Files that contain the kind of speeches or songs he wants the bird Layer NFTs to make.

Note that all the Audio Files must be enclosed in one folder.

The acceptable formats for Audio Files are: FLAC, MP3, and WAV.

Eddie has named his audio folder Bird Layer Sound.

Therefore, if you want your Layer NFTs to produce sounds, select the button Image with Audio when minting.

However, note that you don't have to upload any Audio Folder if you don't want your Layer NFTs to produce sounds. In such a situation, select the button Image Only when minting.

Layer-Audio File Pairs

Note the following important points while preparing your Layer Files and Audio Files for minting:

(i). Same Number of Layer NFTs and Audio Files.
The number of Audio Files you upload for minting must be equal to the number of Layer NFTs you want to mint.

For example, since Eddie wants to produce 10 different bird Layer NFTs at one time, he will need to upload 10 Audio Files. These 10 Audio Files are kept in one folder, which Eddie has named Bird Layer Sound. See Fig. 5.

Fig. 5. Bird Layer Sound

Note that if Eddie wants each of his 10 Layer NFTs to have different audio speech or music, then all the 10 Audio Files must be different.

(ii). Dissimilar Names for Layer Files and Audio Files.
The name of an Audio File does not need to be the same as the name of a Layer File.

This is because EdaFace Minting System randomly pairs each generated or crossbred Layer NFT to an Audio File.

Important Details

Note the following important details:

(i). The total maximum file size is fifty megabytes (50 mb).
That is, the collective size of all Layer Files and Audio Files you want to upload may not be more than 50 mb for each minting.

(ii). The name of a file or folder is not case-sensitive.

(iii). The way you arrange the files in a folder does not affect the pairing process of Layer-Audio Files.
