EdaFace NFT Naming Convention

NFT Naming provides the human-readable name by which an NFT is identified and recognized. The NFT Name must be derived from one or more applicable levels of the NFT’s Taxonomy.

An NFT Name may be either a Single Name or a Combined Name.

(1). Single Name

A Single Name is an NFT Name derived from one applicable level of the Taxonomy.

For example:

• Universal — Edition

• Eddie — Species

• Genesis — Generation

• 04 — Variety

(2). Combined Name

A Combined Name is an NFT Name derived from two or more applicable levels of the Taxonomy, creating a more distinctive identity for the NFT.

For example:

Illustrious Eddie 04

This name combines:

Edition + Species + Variety

The creator may combine any applicable Taxonomy levels to form the NFT Name.

Important Notes

(1). The NFT Name Must Be Derived from the Taxonomy

The NFT Name should be derived from one or more applicable levels of the NFT’s Taxonomy. This establishes a meaningful relationship between the NFT Name and its formal classification and helps the collector identify the NFT’s position within its Collection.

(2). Naming Is the Creator’s Initiative

The choice of NFT Name is solely the Creator’s initiative.

The Creator may determine which applicable Taxonomy levels to combine and the order in which they appear in the NFT Name, according to the Creator’s preferred naming structure.

A separator, such as a hyphen, may be used for clarity, but it is not mandatory.

For example:

Illustrious Eddie 04

Illustrious-Eddie-04

Both may represent the same Taxonomy.

(3). NFT Name Does Not Replace Taxonomy

The NFT Name does not replace the NFT’s Taxonomy.

The complete applicable Taxonomy must be clearly specified in the NFT Traits (Properties) at the time of minting.

Thus, even where an NFT has a Single Name, its complete Taxonomy remains identifiable through its Traits.

(4). NFT Name Cannot Be Changed After Minting

Once an NFT is minted, its NFT Name becomes part of its recorded metadata and cannot be changed thereafter, where the marketplace and metadata structure make the name immutable.

Therefore, the Creator should carefully review and confirm the NFT Name before minting to ensure that it is accurate, appropriate, and consistent with the NFT’s Taxonomy.

The Fundamental Principle

NFT Naming provides the recognizable name;

NFT Taxonomy provides the formal classification.

This approach gives Creators flexibility in naming their NFTs while ensuring that Collectors can clearly identify and understand the NFT’s precise position within its Collection.
