EdaFace NFT Taxonomy

Posted on 2026-09-03 Updated on 2026-09-03

This is a Classification Framework for NFTs Minted on the EdaFace NFT Marketplace.

1.0. Introduction
The EdaFace NFT Taxonomy Standard establishes a clear, logical, and scalable system for classifying, identifying, naming, and organizing Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) minted through the EdaFace NFT Marketplace.

The fundamental principle is: Every NFT should have a clear place within a recognizable classification structure.

2.0. Purpose
There are a number of inconsistencies in the taxonomy of NFTs on NFT Marketplaces. This has created confusion among creators and collectors.

The purpose of EdaFace NFT Taxonomy is to ensure that NFTs can be organized consistently regardless of their subject, purpose, creator, collection, or future development.

It is designed not only for NFTs created by EdaFace but also as a framework that can be taught to and adopted by other creators and minters using the EdaFace NFT Marketplace and other marketplaces as well.

3.0. The EdaFace NFT Taxonomic Hierarchy
(Five-Level Classification)

The principal hierarchy is:

Level 1: Collection
Level: Species
Level 3: Generation
Level 4: Edition
Level 5: Variety

Collection → Species → Generation → Edition → Variety

These levels move from the broader identity of an NFT collection toward its increasingly specific classification.

However, not every NFT collection will necessarily require every level. Nonetheless, every creator should keep the complete taxonomy in mind when creating and minting NFTs, as it provides a methodological framework for organizing NFTs in a clear and systematic manner for both the creator and the collector.
