An NFT Trait is a specific characteristic, attribute, property, or piece of information assigned to an NFT to describe, identify, classify, or distinguish the NFT.
NFT Traits provide additional information about an NFT and may cover different aspects of its identity, characteristics, behaviour, rarity, utility, technical specifications, and ownership rights.
On EdaFace NFT Marketplace, NFT Traits are organized into the following seven categories:
Taxonomy Traits establish the NFT’s position within its Collection and should identify the applicable levels of the EdaFace Taxonomy:
Collection → Species → Generation → Edition → Variety
Where applicable, these Taxonomy levels should be clearly specified in the NFT’s Traits (Properties) at the time of minting.
Descriptive Traits describe the visual, physical, stylistic, or other characteristics of an NFT.
Examples include:

• Colour
• Eyes
• Clothing
• Accessories
• Appearance
• Environment
• Style
• Design
These Traits help collectors recognize and distinguish the characteristics of an NFT.
Behavioral Traits describe how an NFT behaves, acts, moves, speaks, responds, or otherwise expresses its characteristics.
• Personality
• Voice
• Speech
• Movement
• Animation
• Expression
• Interaction
• Behaviour
Behavioral Traits may be particularly relevant to animated, interactive, intelligent, or character-based NFTs.
Rarity Traits indicate the relative scarcity or rarity assigned to an NFT.
• Common
• Uncommon
• Rare
• Super Rare
• Ultra Rare
• Legendary
Rarity is an NFT attribute, not a taxonomic level. It therefore complements the Taxonomy rather than forming part of the Collection → Species → Generation → Edition → Variety hierarchy.
Utility Traits describe the benefits, functions, access, privileges, or other practical uses associated with an NFT.

This category provides technical or identifying information associated with the NFT.
• Blockchain type
• Blockchain Identification Number (BIN)
• Contract Address

• Metadata Version
• Media Format
The technical traits are often automatically generated and maintained by the blockchain and EdaFace NFT Marketplace rather than manually entered by the creator.
Ownership Rights specify the rights granted to the holder of an NFT in relation to the NFT and, where applicable, its associated content or underlying asset.
On EdaFace, Ownership Rights are categorized into two principal types:
Digital Collectible Rights are the rights associated with owning an NFT as a digital collectible.
Depending on the terms established by the creator, these may include the right to:
• Possess the NFT
• Display the NFT
• Transfer the NFT
• Sell or resell the NFT
• Use the NFT for permitted personal purposes
• Access benefits specifically attached to the digital collectible
The specific rights granted to the holder should be clearly stated in the applicable Terms & Conditions.
Tokenized Asset Rights are the rights associated with an NFT that represents, embodies, or is linked to a tokenized asset.
Such rights may include specific rights, interests, benefits, claims, or entitlements relating to the underlying asset, as expressly defined by the creator, issuer, or applicable legal and contractual terms.
The existence and extent of Tokenized Asset Rights should therefore be clearly specified and should not be assumed merely because an NFT exists.
Not every NFT represents a tokenized asset.
A purely digital collectible may provide Digital Collectible Rights without conferring any ownership, claim, interest, or other right in an underlying asset.
Where an NFT does represent or provide rights relating to a tokenized asset, the applicable Tokenized Asset Rights should be expressly defined.
Accordingly, Digital Collectible Rights relate to the NFT as a digital collectible, while Tokenized Asset Rights relate to rights associated with the underlying tokenized asset.
The categories above are intended to provide a systematic framework for describing NFTs, rather than requiring every NFT to contain every category or every Trait.
The applicable Traits should be determined by the nature and purpose of the NFT and should be clearly and consistently recorded by the creator.
Most importantly, Taxonomy Traits should clearly establish the NFT’s formal classification, while the other Traits provide additional information about its characteristics, behaviour, rarity, utility, technical details, and Ownership Rights.
Thus:
Traits describe the NFT; Taxonomy classifies the NFT.
Together, they provide creators and collectors with a comprehensive and systematic way to identify, understand, organize, distinguish, compare, and recognize an NFT.
